Rome was not built in one day is a saying which most people know or have heard at some point and the meaning is that you can't expect to do everything in one day, you won't grow to your full potential in one day. In fact it took over a million days to build Rome so far and the truth is they are still building Rome today, Rome has been sacked and rebuilt many times over. We all have a piece of Rome within us. What lessons can we take from this? Well every day of our life is an opportunity of Self-Growth. We never stop growing so nothing is built in a set amount of days. There is always room for improvement no matter how much self growth we have attained.
Like Rome, we too will be sacked at some point in our lives, nothing is plain sailing all the way through to success. NO! We will be sacked several times just like Rome and we will need to rebuild ourselves back up again. Meanwhile each time we rebuild, we get bigger, better, stronger than ever before. Self Growth involves making mistakes and then learning from them. so we can continue to grow, and get better every single day, but it is not one massive step forward, it is always one small step at a time. This is the way the big goals are achieved.
Lets take a look at just some of the many ways we can benefit from Self-Growth
Reading Books is an amazing way to learn and gain wisdom. Read a book every day, now I know we live busy lifestyles however sometimes we have to schedule time in our lives for things which are important and reading is very important moving forward. The more you read the greater your self growth will become especially if you read books which are factual and you find very interesting or topics which you are passionate about.
If you are up for a challenge then why not try learning a new language, it is not easy but nothing worthwhile is ever easy! What an amazing difference it would make to your skillset if you learn a new language. One of the benefits is that your mind will open up and become even bigger and better than ever before.
Set your mind to a new hobby that you have always wanted to do. Learning something new requires you to stretch yourself in different aspects, whether physically, mentally or emotionally.
Go Back to School! Do a course in something which is of interest to you. It is amazing how much you can achieve towards your personal goals if you do a course in it. Getting a qualification in your area of interest is vital if you want to succeed. Courses are an awesome way to gain extra knowledge & skills. It doesn’t have to be a long-term course – seminars or workshops serve their purpose too. I’ve been to a few workshops and they have helped me gain new insights which I had not considered before.
Overcome any problem of the mind or of a psychosomatic nature, e.g. overcome a fear or phobia, stop smoking, lose trauma or anxiety and you can do this from a top professional like Anthony Fenech
Early to bed and Early to Rise makes someone healthy wealthy and wise! Get up early and live out the day. So many successful people have benefited from getting up early. Give yourself a hour or two in the mornings for yourself and this is your time to zone in and focus on the day ahead.
It doesn't matter what you eat but try to eat in smaller portions, the main thing by far is a regular dosage of exercise. Again we all live busy lifestyles today but try to make a routine for exercise and stick to it, no pain no gain but the rewards will be tremendous for you. You will feel ten times better if you do some exercise.
Write a letter to your Future self. What do you see yourself as 5 years from now? Will you be the same? Different? What kind of person will you be? Write a letter to your future self – 1 year from now will be a good start – and seal it. Make a date in your calendar to open it 1 year from now. Then start working to become the person you want to open that letter.
Real Growth begins just 1 inch out of your comfort zone. Don't stay all the time in your comfortable place, get out of it and start having new experiences and learning new way to deal with new scenarios. Take on a challenge!
Set yourself a challenge, something which will be hard to achieve and then set yourself a time frame because a goal without a date is just a dream!
Always ask for feedback from people as to how you can improve, how you are doing and what you need to do in order to grow. Asking for feedback gives us an additional perspective. Some people to approach will be friends, family, colleagues, boss, or even acquaintances, since they will have no pre-set bias and can give their feedback objectively.
No one is perfect, we all have flaws we need to work on, identify them, accept them and work hard on them.
Stop watching TV! Get out more, have some fun! Commit to your personal Growth!
